In Florida, the school board of Edith I. Starke Elementary School but most low-income students were unable to afford these uniforms.
In Spring of 2016, Volusia County implemented a new uniform policy for its schools, one of which was Starke Elementary in Deland, FL. A majority of students qualify for FRLP (99% of student body), and many could not support the new costs that a school uniform would bring in. After seeing a video released by Starke, SWS decided to lend a hand in an effort led by SWS Regional Exec Dalton. Dalton raised funds for a donation 143 uniforms and 631 school supplies for the students living in Deland, FL. Before school started in 2016, SWS delivered the donation to Starke Elementary administration; it was met with great excitement from the staff and students' families, who are now able to watch their children succeed in a new setting.
